    New to me E46

Picked up an 04 325 convertible yesterday. I like it so far even though it's anything but powerful. But that's ok, since it will just be my daily driver. I have noticed (just) one issue so far.

Right rear LED light/brake light doesn't quite work as designed. If I turn the lights on, they all come on normally. The lower level tail light comes on with the headlights off when I press the pedal, but the brighter level brake light however does not come on either with he headlights on or off.

Maybe the brake switch? The right tail light assembly?

    thanks

Took the good left assembly out and tried it on the "bad" side. Worked. So, I apparently have a bad right assembly.

New assembly shouldn't be too expensive, they're LED so they typically have long life but if the right one is out the left one will go out soon as well. I say buy a nice smoked aftermarket pair and call it good congratulations on your new purchase, make sure to look at Mangos E46 Guide to the cooling system and make sure you do an overhaul as soon as possible. Total cost for automatic transmission is around $800 from FCPeuro.com which I do recommend due to their amazing lifetime warranty (no questions asked). Just drop the money and do it, I also suggest you get an oil change kit from there as well so you can have lifetime oil and oil filter take a look at them! Congratulations again

My passenger side taillight is cracked. Replacements have to be for/from an e46 vert. Those don't get parted out very often so I searched eBay. Cheapest I could find was $150/pr. I couldn't find any singles. Those are probably cheap china knock offs. I've run into 2 e46 verts with parts for sale indifferent parts of the country. They both wanted over $150.

    They aren't cheap.
