The BMW CCA E31 Chapter is helping Steve's family by putting out info on the memorial for Steve. Please let me know if you will be attending (PM- name and email) as we'll need a headcount for the event. All E31's are especially welcome. The information is as follows:
Date: Saturday, October 14, 2017
Time: 1:00 pm
The family is planning an afternoon gathering - light food / hors d'oeuvres and drinks at the San Francisco Yacht Club in Belvedere, CA. The hope is to provide a beautiful space for connecting with each other and a collective time for folks to share stories about Steve. A good friend of Steve's is a member of the club and has arranged two sailboats for about ~25 people, so likely not all guests will be able to sail due to capacity limitations. The family is expecting that family and friends will be sailing away with Steve while we all raise a toast in his honor.
Location: San Francisco Yacht Club - the name is a bit misleading. This is the original SF Yacht Club; however, it is located in Belvedere not SF.

Headcount is now 15, with about 6 cars.
Headcount now 18. Here is a message from Tammy, Steve's daughter.
Thank you for reaching out! The memorial planning is pretty much fully in place. My Dad's friends that live in Marin have been super helpful and it turns out I went to school as a kid with the event manager at the yacht club. It should be a lovely event and celebration. I am thinking we will spend time mingling as folks arrive and then share stories before we sail away with Steve. We will have plenty of hors d'oeuvres, wine gifted by one of my Dad's friends, full bar, and a jazz trio playing. One of my Dad's friends is a jazz musician and put together a small group. In the spirit of Steve Cohen--this will be a celebration--he did love a good party. So far 47 people are planning to attend. I just logged on to the evite to check to see if I have everyone and saw a few more folks have rsvp'd for a total of 17 from the E31 community---amazing. Feel free to pass along this update, so folks know what to expect. Thank you for the offer of help---keeping the E31 group updated is great help. Pasted below are the names I culled from the E31 invitation. Let me know if I missed anyone.
I am really looking forward to meeting you all in person and please let me know if I may provide additional context for the day and if there are questions on location, etc. It may help to share my cell # 213 327 9483, should anyone need assistance that weekend.
Steve's House is in Santa Rosa. I hope nothing has happened to it in the fires.

Steve left that house in the hills and bought a house in Cloverdale where he lived until his daughter brought him to LA. I would assume she inherited the Cloverdale house. Tragic for so many in the area up there.....
Steve's End of Life Gathering was full of love and condolences from the E31 community.
For sure, Steve was smiling down on us during the gathering as the day was PERFECT.
The bay was calm for the ceremonial boat ride, the sky was blue and the air was clear; with not even a hint of the smoke from the devastating fires burning only a few miles North.
Family and friends in attendance all knew how passionate Steve was with his 8 and the effort he put into the many 8-Fest events.
As 1 of the 93 E31's in attendance at the "Ultimate 8 Series Gathering in the World", 2013 Left Coast 8-Fest - 10th Anniversary, all I can say is Steve contributed to my life in many ways, my acquaintance with Steve was all to brief and he will be sorely missed.
Thank you Steve for all the wonderful memories.
- Yesterday we celebrated the life of Steve Cohen who founded the 8 series BMW club. This special man and others created an amazing bound for 8 series BMW enthusiasts. The club centers around the cars but unique friendships were formed. Steve will be dearly missed. This was one of the last venues where over 90 cars came for a wonderful 4 day weekend at Benbow Inn in Northern California. We must enjoy life when we can. (facebook 10/15/17)
- As my wife Chris said Steve will be dearly missed.
It surely the WARMEST Welcoming "Ultimate 8 Series Gathering in the World", 2013 Left Coast 8-Fest - 10th Anniversary, Hail to Steve!!! Rest in Peace.
