OBD based multi-gauge in place of clock?

I am curious how does this work, or in other words what can you get from OBD port inside, considering that most require 20 port adapter to connector that is in the trunk? I wonder if anyone done this with our cars.

I have ultra gauge plugged into OBD and it shuts off after about 30 secs.

Does anybody know if the OBD port eventually turns off?

The LED on my BT module always stayed on, hence my addition of the extension with the switch. I'm sure the drain is quite low, but I shut it off when I know I won't drive the car for a while. In my DD Coupe, the module is always plugged in with the light on. I'll probably add the switched cord eventually.
