    M70 Engine Stand ?

I need an engine stand to hold the M70. Is a Harbor freight 1000lb stand adequate? Its got 4 wheels (don't want a 3 wheeler). The engine will not have any accessories on it (alternator, ac compressor, ps pump, exhaust manifolds) so should be less than 500lb.

Steffen - what method do you recommend? Dropping engine down, pulling up and out or removing entire front bumper and pulling forward?

I remove everything in front (radiator, upper crossbeam, and complete front end bumper/spoiler). I also leave the transmission attached and pull it along with the engine. It will help if you have the load leveler - makes life so much easier. Dropping the front subframe and removing the engine/trans from underneath works also, provided you have enough space to do that.

Got it and thank you. I actually have a 4 post lift, so may drop it out the bottom as I think it will allow me more room to maneuver. Although, now thinking through it, not sure that I can support the front end with my bridge jack and still get everything out. :/

Another QQ for you, any truth to the rumor that the v12 block can "warp" from being on an engine stand?

PS. Just picked up an '07 B7 with 48k miles... freaking excited! Are you loving yours?

You won't twist the V12. I have 3 engines in storage on engine stands that have been like that for a few years.
The B7 is a BLAST! I was always eyeing an M5 or M6, but this thing is way better, it is the total sleeper car.

Ok excellent. Thanks for the guidance.

Looks like yours doesn't have the BMW Night Vision - absolutely cool option.
    You will love that car.
