Hey all. 2008 E60. The most wonderful thing happened to me. The rear window seal apparently is leaking and it slowly over time filled up my hot tub (the lovely water tight area in the trunk that holds all those important electronics) eventually frying both the TPMS and PDC systems. Does anyone have any experience with replacing / fixing those? Can I just buy them and replace the modules myself or does my stealership need to do it as they will need reprogramming. They were easy enuff to take out and dry off, remove the water, etc.
I see you're in Bridgewater. I love I Far Hills. I too have an'08 M5. I recently brought it to BMW of Bridgewater for the same thing. They didn't say the TPMS module went bad because of water, but they did want $1k for the repair. I just need a new module. I believe it's plug and play., but you never know with these cars.
There re is a class action lawsuit that BMW recently approved for this same problem on all E60 BMW's. They're supposed to fix the problem for free or reimburse you if you already paid for the repair in the past. Google it and you'll find it.
Take it to the dealer and have it fixed for free. And the leak is not from the rear window seal. I believe that the water comes from the rear sunroof drains.
