Newbie here. Recently picked up an 1983 320is with a pretty decent exterior which is hard to find in Ohio. Unfortunately the dashboard has some cracks and wear. Looked on youtube and found some videos on flocking and suede covering for the dash. Has anyone here repaired a dashboard rather that replaced? How difficult was it and what did you use? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Just gathering info before i start to work on my first BMW! Cheers
P.s. Will post pics later
I'd get a plastic molded dash cap. Easy, removable and looks 99% original. Just make sure to get the one that fits newer dash (80-83). There is a company making these. I think I got mine on ebay...
Max
So...
many...
cracks...
...
even in the windshield.
I have done this process before: https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...pair-Pic-Heavy
It won't cost a lot and will look great when done. Have fun!

Thats an idea. not too expensive either. maybe ill try a restore and if it looks terrible ill get a cap and cover my mess lol.
Judging by the pictures, it looks like there is a crack in your windshield, if that is the case then I would recommend doing the repair while the dash is still in the car and the windshield is out. That's what I ended up doing saving a lot of time and frustration. Just remove the steering wheel and make sure you tape everything off to protect from overspray. Good luck.
I hadn't even thought of that. Thanks for the suggestion!
I have a dash cap I got off ebay but will not be using. Cost me $150 including shipping. Yours for $100 shipped if you want it.
