Hi,
I am experiencing a very annoying issue in my Z3 2.0 1999.
When my car has already run an half-hour, then everything is warm, I am experiencing a very annoying noisy issue coming from rear axle. It starts when I'm turning at very low speed in first or second speed while accelerate, then requesting torque...
I don't understand whether is a differential or CV-axle issue....
For your reference I attached a video where you can hear the noise I'm talking about
Any suggestion is welcome!

If you have a limited slip, I am going to guess LSD clutch chatter.
Change the fluid with a fluid containing molybdenum.

Agree with post 4. Change the fluid.

I don't know whether mine is a LSD, but I don't think so....

Looks like the 2.0 only had the LSD with the M Sport suspension. That's not a sports steering wheel, so the LSD is doubtful. Even if it was, it would be a Torsen, which don't chatter.
I have a tough time telling anything from videos. But to me it sounds more of a suspension groan than a diff chatter or CV clack. Bushings, shocks, shock mounts. Have you been under it for a visual inspection yet?

If so, why it does it only when it's warm? Usually after highways run. Instead after a cold start or with straight front wheels, no groans at all!!
However, I did a visual inspection, that I will try to repeat.
I will let to know! Thanks

So, I've got time to inspect rear subframe, but I've noted nothing that it's worth to be mentioned (from my experience and knowledge).
So I tried to replace rear differential lubricant oil, with Castrol Syntrax limited slip 75W-140.
I did a test drive: I tried to warm up with a half a tour trip then I tested some narrow turn and saw any strange noise from diff. Fortunately no strange noise! I hope that problem gas been fixed.
Moreover, After old fluid has been removed, I shooted some photos inside differential case from drain-refill holes, in order ti understand if it's a open or LSD diff.
Any or you can help me in identify the differential kind?
Thanks.

I replaced lubricant oil of differential. I put Castrol Syntrax limited slip 75W-140.
The terribile noise I heard seems to be gone.
I shot some photos from the drain-refill plugin holes. Do you think mine is a LSD ? Torsen?
Thanks.
