For those who have installed Thrust (Torrington) Bearings

How do you get them to stay seated on the upper spring perch whenever you jack up your car?

I'm installing a set all around, and can tell that they will fix my binding issue, however unless I hold them in place with my hand while lowering the car (not possible) I don't see how I can get them to properly seat into the upper perches.

A couple pics might paint a clearer picture.

Top of spring, bearings flopping to the side.

Top of spring, me holding the bearings in place.

    Bottoms are fine

I think they are intended to be used with 'helper' springs.

You aren't preloaded properly, the front completely unbound but installed should not allow room like that. You have a height adjuster and a preload adjuster. Adjust preload first then height.

Thanks that makes sense. My car came with coilovers installed and haven't touched them until now. I've only ever used cup kits before.

Don't you only need 1 thrust bearing per spring?

I would think only one bearing would be required.

I thought about installing these with my H&R coil-overs, since they have progressive spring, and they bind.

Looking for an E39 belly pan , passenger front inner fender liner …

Can't hurt. Linear or progressive does not matter.

Just wondering - what does spring bind feel like?

The springs on my car will typically bind when entering or leaving the driveway at a turn / hard turn.
You can feel and hear the coils of the springs crunch / bind against each other.
