    2003 325i Sedan Delay in Start

    Hey guys just started to notice when I turn my ket to start seems like a delay all of a sudden. So key is turned but like a second or two then starts. Anything might cause this
    or just she is old now. LOL

    The ignition switch is a known fail point on these cars, as it is the exact same one on the E-39's and about 15 years of use, they like to fail.

    In older bimmers, the ignition switch (the electrical part, not the mechanical lock cylinder) is fixed in place with a tiny setscrew. If the setscrew loosens or the switch wears from thousands of uses, the switch backs away from the lock cylinder and .... no workie. Can't say that's the case with an E46, but a little use of the Search function may turn it up for you.
