I've been having issues with my Radio/Navigation/iDrive system as it constantly reboots and used to come on sometimes but it hasn't in a few weeks and I'm ready to get it fixed. I've determined it's something faulty with the CIC so I'm looking into getting one from a junkyard or one that's refurbished.
I started to think one of things that's always annoyed me about the radio was it doesn't have bluetooth or AUX capability so I was wondering if I could get a newer CIC that has that capability? Would it be difficult to code in?
Thanks guys, any help appreciated.
I'm also looking for alternatives to the iDrive for my 2006 530i - one of the options I've lightly explored is through Bimmertech. See link below. Curious if others have installed the retrofit such as vividscreen and any feedback they may have.

I've looked at a couple of options, and none of them seem to give what I want. Fully current bluetooth support for music/phone, with address book sync, but doesn't lose iDrive. When we changed my wife's phone from Samsung S3 to an LG G4, address book sync. went away, and it's never had A2DP. The combox from bimmer-tech looks pretty good. I might need to give them a call.

Did some more digging on this topic. In order to upgrade anything on my CCC equipped 2006, I have to start with a CIC upgrade. Then add pieces from there. So by the time it's all said and done, it could be around $5000 to have navigation, with full bluetooth functionality.
Ummmmmmmmmmmm .... I think I will try installing my $15 aux. plug, and code the CCC to turn it on first.

I found this in my search to upgrade my sound sytem.
Plug and play, full bluetooth, touchscreen, Switchable between iDrive and android interface, not sure about the address book sync though.
