If since checked and the belt appears to be the right length when removed from visco.
Now I need to figure out this fan delete...

One of there kits they supply with a new altered water pump but my kit doesn't have one... I'll see tomarow what they have to say..
I would suggest getting a longer belt, that is far cheaper and easier solution.

I will try new belts first as it is the cheapest option.

So we can not do the visco fan delete and replace with electric fans on m70? Examples: like you can do on e36 or e46...
They remove the fan clutch and replace with electric fan in the old shroud.

You can remove the fan and add electric, it has been done. The fans don't really fit well inside the old shroud so it looks crappy.
I would go for longer belt to begin with.

Hey now dragon! I have a hi flow Spal electric fan conversion and it fits perfectly in the stock fan shroud and looks awesome according to me! I'm following this thread closely as I'm going to eventually be adding a supercharger. I hope this one works well

After everyone said get a belt, I found a post on m70 electric fan.

I have a longer belt shipping in. It's about 67inches.
5pk1720. Won't be here till next week.
If that belt doesn't work I may have to do the electric fan.

There's no size close to that belt. Any smaller and it drops down a big length.

I'll have more luck finding the shorter length belts.

I'll update once the long belt comes in next week.

Already did, though as with almost all DIYs Photobucket has robbed us of the pictures.

Adding an electric fan / removing the mechanical fan can certainly be done.
But how, exactly, is that going to change the length of the belt? You can't just skip driving the water pump.

More likely, they are suggesting you lose the tensioner on that belt, as the SC comes with one of its own, right?

Honestly, unless that supercharger is driven from a separate and additional belt, there will be issues. Of course, it doesn't seem like that was the design of the bracketry, so issues it is...

That's my fault, I forgot with the shorter belt I have to skip it rather than others who still use the belt around water pump but delete fan.

And the pulley on the sc bracket is a guide pulley not a tension.

First, make sure you measure correctly with a string and without tensioner... then convert properly.
I say this because if you did that, 5pk1720 will be too LONG. 67 inches comes to 1701mm, meaning you should be waiting for a 5pk1700
that extra 20mm on the 5pk1720 is .8 inches!
...and for the 1700, eBay is your friend

I measured 68-69(somewhere In the middle.
So the 1720 should be a Little shorter than I need.

At the time ordering the other belt I couldn't find any smaller.
My intention was to by 3 belts that were close to size.

I'll put in an order for the 1700 also.

I'm busy today going out to BLM for some target practice!

As BoostedLogic is nearing lifecycle end for our E31 supercharger systems (just two kits remaining before they're all gone), it's good to see that other vendors out there have something to offer for the V12 cars.

Regarding the belt challenge, your best bet is to find a belt of any width (6pk or wider) which is the correct length and then just remove with a razor blade the unneeded ribs. We did this on some of our "one-off" custom Stage 3+ kits where 10 or 12 ribs were needed to eliminate slipping.

Best of luck and keep the pictures coming !

    Rgds...
