So I've heard of people getting really good deals, for example my friend heard about an old BMW from a co worker (because they knew he had an old BMW). He went to check it out and realized it was a rare 325ix E30. He picked it up for like 500 bucks and it was in really good shape just needed a few tune ups (timing belt, detail, wash).
So if you have found a pretty good/rare model for a steal please post where/how you found it. Not including craigslist because generally cars are picked over there.
Estate sales? Garage sales? word of mouth? Where!
This looks like a good deal.
I love the look of the 850CI

My best non-Craigslist deal was the mostly-rust free 2002 I bought for $400. It was parked in a driveway down the street for a few years. It's all about being in the right place at the right time, there's no "trick" or magic behind it. I've missed out on plenty of deals too!
These sort of deals will usually find you.
Seems that every time I'm broke there are deals everywhere. When having $$$ in hand, nothing to get excited about.
If people know of your interest you'll be approached once in a while, sometimes it's a great deal, usually not.
If you can leave two black stripes from the exit of one corner to the braking zone of the next, you have enough horsepower. - Mark Donohue
Th best deals always appear just after you buy a car.
I just found a manual 535i with 202k miles for $600 asking price, but it needs a clutch and has some decent rust on one door...not sure I'm going for it.

It does always seem like the best deals are when there's not a lot of extra $$ to spend

He said he'd take 1600 and the timing chain guides were done a year ago (I did prompt him for info on timing chain guides tho so who knows)
I may look at the car this weekend if your interested in it let me know, if I don't want it I could negotiate him down probably to 1300-1400

^that looks promising, thanks, but I bought the 535i for $350 and I already have a 540i/6. That does look like a deal though...
