Heartbreaking news for the BMWCCAE31 Chapter and the 8 Community

It is with deep sadness to inform our members that Steve Cohen had passed away on August 13, 2018, which was also his 78th birthday. Steve was very instrumental in bringing 8ers together and making the E31 get noticed. He was a founding member of the BMWCCAE31 Chapter, serving as its first Vice President. Many knew him from his wine tours and from the original Left Coast Fest, as well as the 10th Anniversary revisit of that wonderful outing in October 2013. Condolences go out to his closest friends and family.

That is truly sad news. Steve was instrumental in organizing and supporting so much of what we now take for granted as the norm for our 'club'. He will be missed.

Oh no!!! I'm so sad to hear this. He was a great man and the father of all 8 series owners. Met him several times at the gatherings. Truly a lovable and kind person. Opened the doors to his home for everyone. Only e31 "Original owner" that I know of to date. He will be missed. He was ill the last few years of his life. He is in a better place now. May his soul rest in peace. My condolences to his family and everyone in the 8 community.

Steve's family has requested that in lieu of flowers consider a donation to The Bishop's Ranch in Healdsburg. The link is http://nishopsranch.org/support-us/annual-fund/.

There will be a memorial on Saturday, October 7th, 2017 on San Francisco Bay where his ashes will be scattered at his request. He spent many a day on those Waters...it was his church. If anyone would like to join the service on Saturday October 7th I will forward the information to contact Tammy. It will most likely be on the Marin side of the bay. Details are still coming together. This would be a wonderful opportunity for E31's close to attend the ceremony and represent all of us who Steve helped in so many ways.

I am sad that we have lost one of our 8 community great leaders, Steve Cohen who passed away recently on August 13th. He was instrumental in bringing together the 8 community for many years. I was fortunate to visit him while he was living near to me before his passing. It was his dream to bring together from all over the nation a gathering to share what we keep us so dear to our hearts, our passion for our cars. Many of you who have met Steve may remember the great times we spent together at many of the wine tasting tours, both 8-Fest, and 8 gatherings at his home. He was the pillar of the 8 community that gave me the inspiration to help create SoCalEights. I will forever be thankful for his guidance and support. He will surely be missed by all who knew him. Feel free to share your stories with us all your remembrance of Steve.

Farewell, my friend, you will always be remembered as Mr. 8-Fest
