Well going of what he said, the pro3 cars where basically locked at 185rwhp. He believed that with a 2.7 bottom end, a red chip ecm, and a hot cam, I should land in the 225-245 range. I will most likely out it on his chassis cynical when I'm done just because I can, and it would be nice to have a benchmark, a real world figure.

Not too excited about the 3k, but it will be so much fun when I'm done that I doubt I will care!

Damn autocoerect! Put it on his chassis dyno

Perhaps this should move to a new thread on building a stroker I motor!

We will all greatly look forward to watching your rebuild, at this forum. I hope you'll share - we're all BMW techie / driver guys here.

I can't tell you how much I'm dying to see the dyno numbers. If your creation makes that much power, in that displacement, for that little money, who'd want two cams? PLEASE share the details here!

In fact, I'm sure Jim Levie will join us any time now, and lend some of his immense E30 experience. No one knows the E30 better.

I agree with Chris. There is no way a stroker will reach 240hp. From what I've seen, 180hp would be more like it with a pretty aggressive cam and dyno tune. $3k for parts isn't unrealistic for a stroker build.

I assume that you will replace the rod and main bearing when you put the engine back together. Take note of what The Bentley says about selecting the "color" of the bearings. The diameter of the journals must be checked to a tenth to pick the right "color" bearings. If you are lucky, you will be able to use one "color" main and rod bearings. But, on occasion, I've had to use two or more "colors" when building an engine.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Now that's a good tip! Thank you! Most engine builds I have ever been involved with where all straight forward. This is my first complete euro engine build, and I want to make sure I get everything right. And ihave discovered with German engines, it MUST be done exactly correctly. So please keep such advice coming Guys!
