    Wheel fitment

    I am interesting in running 17x9 245/40/17 square on a 2001 3.0i Roadster.

What suspension/spacing/camber mods will be needed to make that size fit up front?
    Has anyone ran something similar?

    Thanks!

17x9 will work with 30-35 offset. Lowered, camber plates( or flipped Z3m/e36 m3 hats), or ghetto washers to move the bottom of the strut inward). No spacers needed with those offsets. You should be nicely flush with poke.

Can I run that wheel size without any camber plates?

I plan to lower the car on ST coilovers. This will be a dedicated track car.

Buy coilovers designed for an M, and buy new M strut hats. You can mount swap them L-F and end up with enough negative camber to fit the wheels/tires. It will not net as much negative as on an M with the same setup due to the different spindles, and will likely be far more streetable as a result.

You probably won't get those wheels to work without some serious front camber. Somewhere in the range of -3 to -3.5. You will also have to make sure that you get the right size spring, and run at the correct height. If the adjusting collar is next to the wheel or tire, it will rub in my experience. My set up is a 17x9 rim with 45mm offset, and I run 12mm spacers. It will still rub some, but only at full lock. (I just avoid full lock ) This is an older picture, but the same wheels.

Went with BBS CH 17x8.5 et 38

    Wrapped in 245/40 square

No rub right now at stock ride height, but I am dropping the car 1.5in next weekend so I'll be running 10mm spacers.
