Hello all,
I just bought a 2013 BMW 328i X Drive in pristine condition with only 35k miles on it. I do have a question regarding the handling/suspension and want to see if anyone can help. I had been given a 14 as a loaner last week and noticed that the handling seemed to be stiffer and more responsive (not as touchy and loose). I know that it can not be an immense difference because the car is only one year newer but I am wondering what I can do to tighten the steering and make the steering on my car more like the one on the 2014.
I plan on lowering the car with aftermarket springs and struts (thinking Dinan/H&R springs and not sure about the struts yet).
What do you guys think the best thing to do about the handling is?
Thanks all,
Steve
Hello and welcome to the forum! That's an interesting question, normally I'd say that you should check the ball joints, bushings, etc...but since the car only has 35k, I can't imagine that they would be that worn. I've read that m3 control arms will add a bit of negative camber and can make the steering a bit 'heavier'. Other members will likely chime in as well. I'm adding a link to our site's DIY tech articles on the E90 platform - the listed procedures will help you out with you're planning on doing any of the maintenance or repairs down the line. Best of luck!
