    e34 louvers

I know most people will not like this idea, but I have always thought the e34 could look cool with rear window louvers. I photoshopped a pic to see what they might look with them, sorry for the poor photoshop skillz.

What are your thoughts, again just for looks unless you live someplace with blazing heat because I heard they can keep your car much cooler in the sun.

I used to have a 1987 IROC-Z with louvers. They rattled all the time. Then one day while going over 90mph, air got under them enough and ripped them off the car completely, they were plastic and exploded when they hit the road. The bigger pieces that were left were destroyed by the big rig that was driving about 100 feet behind me.

    That's my 2 cents.

If you want a cool car, use window tinting that stops sun radiation. BTW, how hot is in in Michigan?? Summer is only about a week long up there isn't it?

If I did them I would only do it for the looks not for the heat, yea it doesn't get that hot up this way.

Yea they would definitely need to be removable somehow, maybe mounting brackets so you can take them off in a pinch.

I don't think it adds to the look of the car. Harks back to the Pontiac Firebirds and Toyota Supras of the late 80s. The point raised about keeping windows clean is a good one. Have you considered a Rieger rear window trim. It gives the E34 a bit different look without compromising visibility. Looks especially nice on the M5 with a trunk spoiler.

Ah I do like that look alot, didn't know they made that type of spoiler (I think thats what it would be called).

Here are some images for those who don't know what it look like.

Not to derail the thread but how do people feel about this winglet/canards as far as looks?

I'm concerned that because my bumpers do not extend past the outer edge of the tire it might look a little off? I was considering it mostly for my rear bumper. Cheap versions are like 36 dollars so I may fit some just to try it out for a bit. The template I made seemed to 'fit' and acceptable amount.

Honestly the louver Photoshop looks pretty dope but it's hard to say in person if I'd like the aesthetics in person

Glad you're a good sport about it! The E34 is pretty nicely designed and doesn't benefit from much modification, quite the opposite in fact. The M5 trim is about all it can take without looking overdone. I have the M-tech OE rear trunk spoiler and a Rieger rear window trim and am undecided about installing them on my M5 even though those modifications look OK to me. I guess it's the permanent commitment of drilling holes in my trunk that is holding me back.

Send the spoiler my way lol.

I agree however these cars have a very simple Elegance that can be easily tarnished. I was just curious, I think the rear bumper could use some sort something. Maybe a oem trunk spoiler is all it needs to draw the eye away
