Hi all! I am about to purchase a 2012 X5 Diesel with just under 78,000 miles. It is not being purchased through a BMW dealer. Are there any options for a warranty on this vehicle? If i went to BMW, could i purchase a warranty after buying the car? Does anyone have experience with 3rd party warranties? I drive around 25,000-30,000 Miles per year so it would be very nice to have coverage.
Thanks in advance!
Michael
warrant company's I have worked with are zurich, auto solutions, Route 66, aul, Zurich, ail, auto solutions were the best.
I would highly recommend not buying a BMW diesel. And if you do, read the fine print of the warranty. Some warranties specifically exclude much of the emissions components. And that's what causes 90% of the issues on the diesels.

Agree don't buy, I wanted to say that when I mentioned the warranty company's but I didn't, diesel are just crap
Interesting perspectives. 145k miles on my 09 35d. Really quite trouble free. I've had diesels all my life and will continue.
Check out some of the other forums where more dieselheads hang... bimmerfest, xoutpost, xbimmer, etc.
But to your question, others are right. Any warranty worth anything with a 35d must have emissions coverage to be of any value. Several emission items are covered by BMW up to 10 years or 120,000 miles too.
