I have no plans to build a drift car, or enter drift tournaments, but comparing the On Center Steering to what's available in todays cars, I want the quickest steering I can possibly get. As close to never going over 90* in the canyons and mountain roads, and an occasional trackday.
I've done my research in beefing up the suspension front and rear. But after that, I want the quickest steering I can get on center, without massive camber destroying my tires. I'm just going after the first few inches on either side of center making as quick to turn as possible,
Opinions on the following would be helpful:
Steering rack options (OEM or Aftermarket)?
front control arms?
spherical bearings on a street car.
If anybody knows some Atlanta area shops I could work with, that would also be of great help.
Thanks in advance,
Steven
Check the drift subforum in the track forum.
The 1999 Three-Spoke wheel helps some as it is a slightly smaller diameter - wheel from Z3.
There are a few threads which discuss the quickest OE rack - I think the consensus was the 1.8/1.9 Z3 or E46 ZHP rack.
I think the drift guys are using the E46 Control Arms (not recommended for a street car) and as I recall these don't just 'bolt on' and require modifications to fit.
