Do I need to use the round underhood connector on my 3/2001 build 740? I just got the Foxwell scan tool and using the OBD2 Port in the console, there is a lot that I am unable to access. I don't want to buy the OBD2 adapter for the underhood connector if that's not the problem.
what are you trying to access?
I was just playing with some of the sub-menus, for example, when I clicked on the IHKA and other body modules, I received an error. Not trying to do anything in particular.
I have that scanner and to access fully all the modules I have to use the round connector under the hood. When I use just the OBDII I have limited access.
Just keeping it reliable and looking decent.
Problem solved with jumper wire in the 20-pin cap. Thanks!
I have Schwaben scanner BMW/Mini 14020sch purchased with the round 20 pin plug having 1995 740i OBD1, can one use to code? manual says so but no info on how! Installed Xenon headlights from same year 750 so I get the message "check low beams"! When I plug into the round 20 pin with Ignition in #2 postion all I get is seat faults! + 8F IKE KOM Inst fault stored, + 1 LM light module fault stored + C9 Eng DME DMS Digital motor electronics fault stored, D2 etc. no numbers like their is in Bentley manual. I purchased scanner thinking scanner would help me find why engine starts running rough with no power after about 1 minute after start! Where I'm I goofing at? To me right now it appears I wasted $200. purchasing
