Z3M Seat Covers - New Options!

For those who don't venture into the classifieds I wanted to share a project I've been working on. My first BMW was an E36 M3 and I always loved their fabric interiors which we never got in the Z3, so 3 years ago I started my search for the fabric to reupholster my seats and when none were available I worked to reproduce it.

After a lot of time and hard work I finally was able to get some Z3M seat covers made!

This set has M Cross centers, suede bolsters and red contrast stitching. The final set for my car will be a bit different, but I love the look and wanted to share. I am also selling seat covers if you want some for your own car, you can find the classified thread here or just PM with questions

I couldn't be happier personally and can't wait for my own set to be done! I'll be doing a few other interior things to tie it all together too...

This is the solution I was hoping would come about - matching our interiors is so difficult and its great to have an insider taking a stab!

The seat shown in your first post (in this thread) is mouth-wateringly gorgeous!

The question is, how many reinforcements kits are they going to cost me?

Looking forward to see what you do with the door cards too...

I already have a kit sitting here and the daily driver is already reinforced! If you did want a set though, I could certainly work something out for someone who has provided so much to the community

Planning on using the seat center material for the door card inserts. I think this will tie it all together in a nice way, thats the way it was done from the factory. Can't wait to get it all done

Haha, funny; you're flush with kits! Thank you though, and the seams, fit, finish and overall workmanship on the seat in the pictures looks flawless; not an easy feat to accomplish in this day of G-A-S pride in the workplace.

With the smaller area for contrasting trim on Coupe/Rdstr panels__and no backseat whatsoever__I think your interior will look far and away better than the M3's does! Don't be shy when it's time to post pictures of the finished job!

    Coupes...
Randy, how about I trade you a set of seats as cores and some cash for the ugly seats in Zoran's coupe?

That should make it more palatable. I'll even uninstall them for you.
White is Right, Steel Grey is OK, but Estoril is the only color that truly matters.

    I like Coupes.

As a legit potential buyer, the only criticism I have is the uniformity of the seam around the "headrest". I know nothing of sewing or leather craft or whatever so I can't add anything constructive beyond that.

They look great--are you making a step by step install video? Did you steam the foam and/or add scrim? Or are these for professional install only.

They aren't 100% fitted in these pictures - the hog rings are ziptied in place and back part is just zipped up for the pictures. That seam will soften over time and be greatly minimized during final install as well.

I recommend having a professional install them. In my local area this is just about $150 for two seats if I bring the seats and covers to the shop. It can be DIY but as you mention, an industrial steamer is critical to help the foam re-expand to it's original shape.

This customer chose the fabric from the BMW M8 prototype with leather bolsters. Can't wait to see this set installed!

Yes, absolutely. We can match all OEM colors except Kyalami, Evergreen and LSB (for now). And that weird textured beige... ostrich, is it?
    Message me for pricing

I think what'd be really cool on the two-tone sets is to do a black contrast stitching. Especially on red I think that'd just "pop"

    4 BMWs.
Will these fit on the non-M sport seats? The contours are the same except for the stitching.

I don't think so, the general profile is the same but the actual foam cores are different. The M seats have hog rings in different locations, so they wouldn't line up when trying to use on a non-M seat.
