Running into some issues. Anyone know the difference between 201-6201 vs 201-6301

Just found out I need the s50 rod bolts instead of the m50/m5tu even though in pretty sure now the engine is a TU

TU designation is normally an alu block for USA/NA models isn't it?

I dont think so, what i did gather is they changed rod length from 140 to 135. Given i know little about these engines ive ordered a 3rd set of ARP's rod bolts. It looks like the connection rod is the thinner type on this engine.

    How to turbo your car:
Step one. Install ecu and learn to tune and or have it tuned.
Step two. Install injectors and retune.
Step three. Install turbo parts and bits. get it running with out leaks. DO NOT DRIVE IT. Idling should be ok
    Step four. Retune car
    Step five enjoy

Bump and Happy New Year. Trying to get this thing up and running on Haltech. I think I have killed my ignition coils adjusting settings so looking for some recommendations.

    ECU - Haltech Elite 2500
    Engine - m50 with DBW

    Open Questions.

What is the best coils for boosted m50's?
What settings are you using on them for dwell?
Anyone else up and running on an Elite yet?

What coils are you using with the Elite now? ou will need smart coils with it or external ignitor for dumb coils (like stock M/S5x coils and most other BMW coils) you cannot run them direct! You can easily use VAG pencil coils as many have done on these engines - cheap and powerful. Just be aware there are wiring differences between the short and long versions. Dwell for them is 1.8-2.1 @ 14V

Should be good to go then - somewhere around 2.8-3ms dwell should be fine for the stock coils @ 14V

Yup adjusted down to that after talking to boris last night. Still no consistent spark, so cant verify timing. Waiting for haltech to open up hopefully can get some feedback.

My guess is you're probably chasing your head with the crank/cam configuration - did you check the primary trigger with the built in scope?

For anyone that is interested, yes i reinstalled these bearing in 2018 as i was purchasing a house and needed to move the car. It did handle 30lbs of boost for ~5 months, and the thing that failed was a connecting rod bolt at 4k rpms 80kpa load.... because I reused those as well lmfao

After thinking about it for a day i realized it wasnt that big of a deal. all the ring gaps were excessive, and the engine just seemed well worn out. Ill take the block to the machine shop and get things going this week. I am going to request to be present during the process as i do enjoy it.

I got the Tiny board to communicate with Megasquirt. Pretty easy once i took a few baby steps.
