Finally got the tuning pretty good on low boost. Started turning it up a bit and am running pig rich due to my poor fuel map. onwards to 20psi.

In college i built a "kit" for the car for about $1,800. It did ok but eventually the used turbo died.

dan pindar actually found those manifolds on ebay and sold them saying they were from finland.
i bought the first junk set he got his hands on. $600 and the flanges where flipped.
They crack like crazy at least mine did.
lol could be right. its been so long now. When i received it, it was already modified to fit ie a cut down the middle to allow it to fit all cylinders. I already put one hole through the header pipe due to too much fun with the two step lol.

So i kept getting miss fire when I would turn up the boost above 7 PSI. Figured out it was spark blowout checked the plugs and they were close to . 036" . gapped Them to .024" and now POWER Lol.

could not get the virtual dyno consistent whats so ever yesterday. Sorta giving up on adding any more boost or timing.
4th gear pulls are definitely better for reviewing logs just requires a lot more straight road.
Also starting to wonder if the clutch is beginning to not be able to hold the power. No idea what i bought 6+ years ago. south bend something but can not confirm the model / spec / stage.
Also have been trying to determine how and when certain work will get completed.
1. Repaint the front half of the car
2. regasket the engine and fix the stud height on a few areas (this requires pulling the head, new head gasket, new oring wire, new timing belt)
3. dyno tune.
4. fix rear end again.

Went through the list of items yesterday left for the car at this time.
All in all next two weeks ill be getting the car ready for the dyno. Replace the alternator again. I still get semi low voltage output 12.7-13.1.
Tighten the rear end and remove the powder coat in critical areas.
Add some anti seize to the stem of the waste gate.
Finish it off with a boost leak test.
Goal is safe power where ever it ends. (Id love to get 450 wtq) Plan on scheduling dyno time for the 14th

with a new alternator you're getting 13v running?
For the last year ive swapped it out 3-4 times all end up with 12.7 to 13.1 while running.
Last one was a rebuilt with life time warranty OEM unit and im still getting low voltage.
Its getting yanked tonight and sent back and hope to have a new one in a few days to a week.

Did some prep work last night for the dyno.
Determined that the alternator was actually putting out a minimum of 13.6 13.7 volts. Within the Bentley standards.
However what i did notice is that the ecu is reading around 1.2 volts lower then the car is producing. Decided to screw with megasquirt and adjust the voltage compensation. Now its within .2 volts, however im 99% sure this will throw the entire tune off. as soon as it went from 12.4 volts to 13.4 volts it became lean at idlea meaning it is now sending less fuel to the car.
Thinking ill just touch up the fuel map on the way to the dyno and be very safe driving there.
Built a boost leak tester, at about 3psi i heard the turbine spinning (literally spent 10 minutes on this part as i ran out of time, ill have to rotate the engine to seal)
Found one broken hose clamp, catch cans seems to be working, but not as well as it did in the beginning, found a few leaks so hope that helps.
On the 7th ill tighten up the rear end, and boost leak test the car.

if it went lean it sounds like you don't have your inj. dead times just quite right yet not a big deal.. VE wouldn't change from adding voltage... so adjust/calibrate dead times, then correct in VE slightly and you'll be off and running.
That's exactly what i thought as well. Ill adjust the dead time to get a stable idle afr, then touch up on the way to the dyno.
I know i've entered the dead times a dozen times but it seems to get lost in MS occasionally over the years.

Injector dead time in tune 0.520 so yea its off.
Values for Megasquirt, fyi, these are stock evo 9 injectors, stock flow was 560cc, flow tested and cleaned for 600cc.
dead time at 13.2 volts will be 0.820 ms and the ms/v will be .1272

if i can remember correctly the way i set injector deadtimes was by switching from simultaneous
to alternating and tuned it until the afr matched both settings.
i would google it because i'm not 100% on that but the deadtime i came up with where much lower than the ones posted on the internet
and yea the engine sounded and idle smoother.
also why is the ecu seeing less v then what it's actually? bad grounds?

Yea i have heard that too in-order to get the dead time spot on. However this is directly from the stock evo 9 ecu.
It may not be perfect for this particular application however it should be closer.
as for the voltage not showing correctly. Ill have to go with a corrupt tune or firmware. Values were default and showed low voltage, adjust values to understand change, then set the values back and its about .8v higher then it was.
something weird but hope to be fixable. I checked the voltage through the entire car and could not understand where the voltage drop was coming from. Thats when i realized there was a battery voltage correction in ms.

Cluster came in. just spun it to the approximate mileage of the car.
Have to drive to pittsburgh tomorrow. trying to find fenders.

Little mishap this weekend, was hoping to knock out the rear wheel bearings on the e39 saturday morning. Its still not done. Lost power in the shop, and had to mend the e30 for the week of work commuting.
Driving home, the cps lost signal but fixed it after coasting to a gas station. Taking the axles and hubs to an indy to get them removed and installed.
Its been about a 6 months since ive had a speedo and or even made a video of the car.

if you are maybe i can help my shit was stuck for the longest time but came down to ms soldering locations.
Im pretty sure its a loose connection from the MS to the tach. It was on the things to fix, but just did not get to it. Its probably the connection on the back of the cluster now that i think of it.

Thank you, I'm still super conservative on timing, was planning on going to the dyno saturday however few things at worked popped up and the dinan is still down.
Conservative as in ~7 degrees below most on timing above 100kpa. Currently driving this to work this week in traffic.
One of the most annoying things is the rear camber and toe adjusters keep loosening up. Im blaming it on the powder coat but this is going to be the 4th or 5th time ive tightened them.
