    Also if ther are any others words of wisdom to pulling the motor out of the donor - i am all ears for suggestions ....plan is to cut the pipes hook up the hoist , remove the motor mt bolts , remove teh transmision bolts ... then pull

    if there is a definitive good way to do it - let me know

    at the least do an m20b25 swap or I head and ancillaries. the m20b27 complete motor is the most boring of all possible options with the least gains to be had. if sticking with the m20b27 then just swap the heads or fix the current one for a lot less headache and expense.

    also its loads easier to pull them with the transmission attached and separate later. at a wreckers i always pull the front of the car off,bumper grill valence rad and rad support, then yank it straight out the front.

    You can just unbolt the exhaust manifold pipe flanges. I have never had the bolts be seized yet on 3 e21 320i(s)

    How many miles were on the donor car? There were 2 1987s. One was a convertible 325i and the other was a 325e.
