325ix test w/ all 4 wheels in air

I have all four wheels off the ground, are there any tests I can do to components by spinning the wheels? I can hear a slight metal grind coming from each wheel. Also, there seems to be play forward or back from when I start to spin the tire until I can hear it spinning in the differential.

Not much you can really tell from that. The slight metal grind could simply be the brakes. On a car this old there's bound to be some play in the driveline. Only real way to check the transfer case is a jack test. Search youtube for "325ix jack test" for details.

Sounds good brother as always I appreciate the help. I'll check that out sometime I am in the middle of tearing the whole car down. I have quite a bit of rust and since I'm in so deep I guess I'll just keep going. Thanks again.
