Hi
Just replaced the steering idler arm bushing (Meyle 3003221101) in my E38 - I had great difficulty extracting the old one as it's an interference fit and 17 years old etc. I expected that it would take time and patience to fit the new one into the steering arm, however it just slid in. It's not wobbling about or anything but it's certainly not an interference fit. Is this normal or have I a problem? Paul

Many thanks for your reply - my mind is now at ease
Just an update - I completed the install and torqued correctly. When I move the roadwheel from side to side (easier while car is jacked up) the idler arm moves up and down the bushing. It system obviously needs the interference fit to be stable. I intend ordering a complete unit so there will be no doubt. If any has a comment I'd welcome it.
This is a video of the idler arm and bushing play - no interference fit
