Ok guys I'm at my wits end with this hunk of garbage...I've been trying to figure out this clunking for months now and just tonight I did the latest thing which helped a lot but it's still there as loud as ever just not as often maybe...I changed two vacuum hoses and the oil filter housing had a bad gasket, also the intake boot was replaced not long ago, also my mechanic thinks it's not drivetrain and thinks it's solid,so he thinks it's vaccum and the engine having power surges makes the clunking...any ideas?
Hello - what model/year is this in regards to?

Last year he posted something about X3, that is all I know, but without model, engine, built year information (best is in the profile, so all can read it and no need to type every time) no possibility to reply.
I will move this thread to the X3 forum.

It's an 06 BMW X3 3.0 with the m54 engine I believe...130k..it's got custom 20 inch wheels as you can see on my profile pic but no I don't think those are causing any stress anywhere as this noise has started long before I put the wheels on
