Z3 hunt leads to frustration....

I bought a '98 M Roadster sight unseen a year ago January from an owner in Florida. It was a 115K mile car with a hardtop, advertised on Autotrader and of course on the M Roadster Buyer's Guide. I had extensive conversations about the car with the owner and he had done a lot of maintenance, some of it himself. While the car was not exactly as advertised, I believe the owner described it as well as he could, rather than intentionally misrepresenting it. His knowledge was not quite adequate, but I still feel I got a good deal given the amount of time and money I've had to put into it to improve the car.

I bought my Z3 from a guy in Denver via CralgsList ad. He did a good job representing the cosmetic defects and what service was completed. In the end, after completing what I felt was sufficient due-diligence, I decided to accept the risk and purchased the Z3.
