I replaced my front pads and rotors today. The front brakes are dragging slightly. Not enough to feel while driving, but I can hear it and the brakes are very hot when I stop.
I used Wagner Thermoquiet pads and Centric Rotors. I am slightly disappointed in the quality of the them though as the set screw and lug holes are larger than they need to be. I just centered the set screw in the hole and tightened it. They don't seem to be warped.
There were some shims behind the pads in the calipers when I took them apart. I reused them. I don't know if this could cause this issue.

Hot on both sides? If you brake with your hands off the wheel does it pull to one side or the other?

Dragging is probably cause by the caliper piston(s) not retracting fully. It often become obvious when installing new brakes because the thickness of a new rotor/pad requires caliper's pistons to be all the in.
The shims you reused are to prevent noise. It is fine to reuse them if pads did not come with their own.
Raise each wheel and spin it- what is dragging will become obvious.

Max
And renew the rubber brake lines
I got a new car today so the e21 is going on the back burner. It's probably not going to get very much attention until the summer of 2018.
