Hey guys, just looking for a little bit of help. I ordered a new key for my car coded to the vin from the dealership (has a 328 swap) and when I got the key it wouldnt crank the car over. My dumb self just didnt even think about the fact that I have a dme and ews from a different car (I didnt do the swap so I dont know all the technicals on what took place in the swap). So now I am sitting with a brand new key and no way to start my car. Whats my best option here? I hear dealers can align the ews with the dme, would that fix it? Have looked at deleting the ews too. Just would really like to know whats gonna be the best and quickest option for me, I want my car running. Thanks.

Click the search button, select "search single content type", select the "e36 sub forum" specifically, try the "search titles" then try the "search entire posts".
I can help you with this quite easily buddy, pm me if you need help

Ews delete would be your best bet. Dealership ews alignment is around $100. But you'd have to trailer the car there and then you run the risk of it not starting if something went wrong during the engine swap.
