Anyone know what this connects to (or doesn't connect to)? Found it tucked away under radiator drivers side.

That connects to an automatic recirculation sensor I believe. Sensor detect air quality coming in to the front of the engine.

The connecting end is to a 4"x3" black box that would be attached to the back left side of the radiator only if the car is equipped with the AUC (Automatic Recirculate) option.

So if car is not equipped the plug will just be dangling there?

Ya, there are a bunch of ends that have no place to connect because of various options offered.
