Hey all! I'm driving from San Diego to Las Vegas in the next couple days (5hrs/few hundred miles). I have the utmost confidence this vehicle will make the trip without issue this time and many to come. I have already taken the vehicle a couple hours north into the Big Bear mountains and really enjoyed the curvacous mountain roads. I've replaced all the radiator hoses and belts, brakes and started refurbishing the suspension. I will be carrying a tool kit with me as well as emergency fluids and a spare tire.
I don't have many (if any) spare fuses and/or relays. Anything the group deems "must have" for a longer drive? Any input on the subject is always greatly appreciated!
I always keep an air pump, tire sealent, and a battery power pack in case I need to jump.
spare fuses are inside the fuse box cover, relays there are too many. Is the fuel pump still o.k. or ever replaced? If not, maybe you buy the cheapest one you can get and keep it in the trunk for emergency.
Shogun tricks and tips for the E32 series are HERE!
5 hours is not a long drive really. I do that for dinner sometimes.

If you've never replaced your water pump, I'd throw one in the trunk. Any roadside mechanic with a normal set of tools can replace it, and it would be just a few hour holdup instead of days. If not, at least a spare thermostat. Buy a Wahler 80 degree for a few bucks and throw it in the trunk. Little things that can ruin a trip. Great that you've replaced your hoses and belts. If A/C is important to you, I just bought a can of A/C pro. Threw it on the low side port, set the outside temp, an gave it two ten second shots. Haven't touched my A/C in five years, but that little bit made a big difference at start up. I have enough left over from that 20oz can to do three more cars. Have a safe ride.

If anything serious comes up here in Las Vegas, European Motor Cars (EMC) is a premium BMW service center and is highly recommended. If you get stuck in LV for any reason, give me a pm on this form and I'll do what I can to assist. There's room in my garage for emergency repairs that don't require a lift. Be prepared for extra heavy traffic due to the eclipse.
