    m60 heads on m62 lock.

    Hi everyone,

Few days ago one more e34 showed excelent performance against my e39 540i SC. It has installed m60 heads on m62block. Any one of you have any idea about that?

Common E30 thing, tons of details on r3v about it.

Ideally you want to modify B30 heads, there shouldn't be OBD checks in your country yea?

The reason people do that is to have the extra .4 liters of displacement of the M62 with the "stronger" and "more reliable" dual row timing chain setup that the M60 had.

Also, m60 cylinder heads has better timing in compare to m62. That is why m60 has the same hp like m62 even with less engine capacity.

Except it doesn't make more hp.

BMW hp numbers lie to sell the highest possible model

M60B40 heads increase the compression to almost 11:1 and have more aggressive camshafts. I wouldn't screw with B30 heads though. You would have to put a lot of money into them just to get to where the standard 4.0 head is.
