After a timing chain replacement I've been having slightly rough idle along with ABS Brake and check engine lights.
Slight hesitation in throttle response and stalling from 1st gear.
Replaced S bend hose connecting CCV to brake booster. Engine idle made noticeable improvement with changes but still has lumpy idle.
Replaced both rear wheel sensors but speedo stopped working and lights still on. Tested old wheel sensors with voltmeter both read 400ohms both are good. Will replace old sensors and order front sensors
Ordered
CCV unit
BMW scanner

It all begins once you have scan results.
Post back with codes.
Aint it the truth
I can't believe I actually thought I could diagnose this car without a scanner, my ignorance is exposed.
When asked of the man they call Jesus the blind man simply replied, " I once was blind but now I can see"
The CODES
3E MISFIRING AT SEVERAL CYLINDERS
36 MISFIRE DETECTION, CYL 6
21 FUNCTION, INLET-CAMSHAFT CONTROL, BANK 1
39 MISFIRE DETECTION, CYL 2
78 SIGNAL, VEHICLE SPEED
code 78 is for no signals for left and right rear wheel sensors that Im replacing today.
Now that you've made note of the stored codes, clear all of them, reset adaptations.
Perform a short drive if possible, take note of idle, running condition, and new codes displayed.

Totally different scenario, if you ask me.
Everyone is assuming, before the facts.
indeed
switched coils 1 to 2 and 5 to 6 then
installed both rear wheel sensors and cleared all codes
SCAN #2 after 1 hr ride.
CODES
21 FUNCTION, INLET-CAMSHAFT CONTROL, BANK 1
3E MISFIRING AT SEVERAL CYLINDERS
36 MISFIRE DETECTION, CYL 6
39 MISFIRE DETECTION, CYL 2
codes for ABS
69 BRAKE-LIGHT SWITCH, PLAUSIBILITY
58 PRECHARGING PUMP
73 PRESSURE SENSOR, LINE
I read somewhere in the forums to clear code 21, bank 1 Vanos wheel should be advanced 1/8th and this will fix the problem. Can anyone confirm this for me?
Im clueless to the direction i should take to clear the misfires.
I think it maybe my Catalytic Converters that are bad because above 2000rpm the engine is great but below 2000 the engine is noticeably misfiring and low powered and erratic misfires on 2 and 6. Catalytic converters

Coils seem fine, so how old are the sparkplugs?
Have you replaced or even examined them?
Perform cylinder compression tests, post back with results,
Or an even more in depth cylinder leakdown test.
plugs brand new ngk
Well then the rest of the tests are more vital!
I fear that compression test the same way I fear an HIV test.... because I know it means major surgery
On their first day in Hell, the Devil creates an illusion and is able to convince his new inhabitants that they are in fact entering the gates of Heaven. The devil even looks like and proclaims himself as God. The damned are so wicked they believe the devil but it comes a point in time when doubt creeps into that belief. The Devil is keenly aware of this doubt and asks his new inhabitants to provide a better name to call their new God. Once the answer is given, the Hell begins.
Welcome to Hell....
2000 M62 compression test #1
1. 90 psi 5. 180 psi
2. 90 psi 6. 30 psi
3. 180 psi 7. 180 psi
4. 180 psi 8. 150 psi
I think it maybe bent valves because no water in oil
If i remove the Heads for a new head gasket or valve job, must the head and the block need shaving or is it just the heads that are shaved for a blow head gasket job?
Not sure if this would apply to your engine, but could be worth a shot:

Ohhh! I hope it works! Thanks bro!!
Couldn't find the ACDelco fuel injector cleaner, so I bought the piston ring reseller oil and Murphys mysterious oil Red bottle, and a bottle of penetrating oil which i poured down in each plug hole of each cylinder. Will allow oil to sit overnite and try tomorrow evening. On second thought Im thinking of adding fuel injector cleaner and allow it to sit 4 additional hours before try again.

Visit any GM dealership parts dept.
$26.xx MSRP.
Removed as much of solution I could and cleaned plug valley. I don't have access to air supply so I dry cycled engine 10 times without spark plugs.
Compression test
Cyl#1 120psi from 90psi
Cyl#2 120 psi from 90psi
Cyl#6 90 psi from 30psi
Im sold that Im heading in right direction
Cleaned valley again then installed fuel pump fuse, sparks plugs and coil packs, crossed my fingers and let it rip.'
Lots of smoke but engine immediately fired up, and held a idle that sounded a little better!
Still looking for ACdelco injector cleaner but will use different injector cleaner tonite.

After 1 hr ride engine noticeably better breathing and running. Didn't stall once in heavy traffic and idle has smoothed considerably. Will try Lucus Oil injector and upper engine cleaner, 1 ounce in each cylinder and let sit for 4 hrs.
still getting misfire code for 2 and 6

Compression test before 2nd treatment
Cyl#1. 115 psi
Cyl#2. 98 psi
Cyl#5. 170 psi
Cyl#6. 30 psi
Cyl#8. 160 psi
Added 1 ounce of Locus Oil Injector Cleaner to each Cylinder. I don't understand why the pressure is fluctuating, particularly #6 cyl
I haven't preformed a leak down test but if the test confirms the Cylinder rings seals have failed at 1,2, and 6, can those cylinders be reached without removing the block?
