brake position sensor end cap color identification?

Does anybody know how to identify the correct end cap color (size) to use on the brake pedal position sensor?
Car is a 1998 M3 with manual transmission and ABS/ASC.

Use the same cap color thats on the original sensor.

Yes, of course.

But the question is how the color/length chosen?
It must be a stack up "thing" measured at production. The abs computer expects a range of resistance from the sensor and the shim is selected based on that.

Yeah thats my thought process as well. One could try the different colors to alter when ABS kicks in.
