I'm thinking someone has tried this before. So in my case I have an auto e34 touring that is getting 5-speed swap and then turbo'd. Instead of throwing away my automatic transmission oil cooler, can I use it as an engine oil cooler? I know space is tight on the e34s. Only place to really put the intercooler is in front of the radiator. I want to keep AC and all those bits. So is it feasible? Would it be efficient or pointless? or should I just buy small oil cooler that is designed for that purpose on one side behind the fog light area?
Unless you are tracking the car or live in a very hot area in which you cooling system is struggling, you probably don't need an oil cooler. I bought one about 8 years ago while supercharged but changed to turbo and did not need it because the turbo motor runs cooler than the supercharged motor.
I do plan on attending a few novice track days, SCCA track night in America, No Fly Zone 1/2 mile races etc.
You won't have any oil temp issues unless you install an oil temp gauge :/
