Just saw this article of BMW already testing a convertible M8 car. Looks to me that the kidney grill on this prototype is smaller than on the new about-to-go-production 8.

Have just decided that it doesn't really matter to us E31 fans what BMW end up doing to the nose of the new 8.
If they improve it, great...it'll be a good looking car.
If they don't, also no problem, as the E31 will still be the most beautiful and sought after 8er, while the new 8 will forever be, well...not beautiful.

Hi Taylor, any updates to your interview with Adrian?

No major update, we had a short chat in front of the 8 Series Coupe Concept and the new Concept Z4. Time permitted me to ask only one question officially on camera, https://www.instagram.com/p/BX6BXYAh...orpatterson007, but I had some more time to talk with him while he was sitting in my car. These clips were posted by BMW on their Instagram account as stories so they only lasted online for 24 hours.
I was able to post some interesting bits on my instagram account: https://www.instagram.com/taylorpatterson007/ and BMW said they were planning some other marketing tie-ins later as we get closer to general availability of the new Eight Series.
It was an absolute pleasure to hang out with both BMW CEOs and Adrian AND John Buckingham from Liverpool who actually penned the lines of the 8 Series Concept. They all had fun re-experiencing the classic Eight Series and we were represented well with the presence of Gary Corcoran and Alec Cartio, who was able to store his red CSi next to the new car for most of the morning.

Thanks for the update and links, Taylor.
I've studied all those views of the new 8 concept and just cannot get used to the front of the car....that grille is just wrong, so very wrong when compared to the rest of the car.
Sorry BMW.

If BMW were to just eliminate the parts of the kidney grills that point to the sky...

Agree as well but also of interest to me, at least, does the new car have a fixed B pillar? Havent seen a pic with the rear side windows down...

My thoughts exactly. Delete the top 33% of the grille and line up the remaining kidneys with the lower line of the headlights and I think it would be a winner. Don't think they will do it though. I just went shopping for a watch and found All the new models are bigger and "louder" than the outgoing models. I'm afraid these bold design statements are here to stay :-/
