    Stuck hood after wreck

    Hey y'all. I drive a 1994 325i.

Lemme preface this by saying I am a total dumbass for even getting into this situation. Hopefully I can share some pictures of it later to give anyone that might be able to help a better idea.

I got into a wreck in June - a real minor fender bender on my fault - and it left me unable to open the hood of my car. This is obviously a big problem, as I need to change oil and fill fluids and all the general maintenance stuff.

The passenger grill fell off, and it generally dented the front above the bumper. The hood release is no longer accessible.

I realize this is difficult to imagine without pictures, and ill share some pictures in a few days. If anyone has any ideas as far as DIY goes, I'm all ears. A mechanic would probably charge me 500 bucks, and at that point, I'd rather spend a thousand or two for general repairs at a BMW center.

Your a new member, I don't think we should tell you how to break into the car.

The pins that go into the latches have a slot in the end. Its big enough to fit a large straight blade screwdriver. There is a locknut holding them up against the hood, but with enough force you should be able to break them loose and back them out. Should be able to access them from under the car. Something like this might help, you can add ⅜" extensions and the impact part will help break things loose. https://www.harborfreight.com/hand-t...ase-37530.html just make sure it has the straight blade.

I tried that method once. 1 you have to break some plastic to get access to the bottom of the hood latches. 2, it will have to be a very long screw driver. 3. If the hood has wedged itself shut then the pin will probably not turn.

The best bet. Order those pins and the spring. Get a long sawzaw Blade. Carefully just cut the pin. From in between the hood and the grille. See if you can wiggle off the seal first so you can see the pin. A pin should be cheaper than breaking plastic, ripping cables, and the pain of busting hands in the tight space trying to get that damn flat head screwdriver on the bent pin end. ... That sucks. Bad.
