I have a 2004 BMW 330ci. The convertible top doesn't go up or down with the controls. Red light flashes. It does attempt to go down but it stops about 2 inches from the windshield. The rear passenger windows tilt forward when the top is going down. The rear passenger window is stuck in the tilt mode. It will roll all the way down but stops about halfway up. There is a sound like the glass is hitting a stopper to prevent it from going up. I have looked everywhere and I can't find out how to reset the convertible top or windows so that the ECU knows the top is all the way up. Any help is appreciated.
Is there a crunching sound or grinding sound during this process?

regulators for rear windows fail. if window does not reach a certain position the top will stop. you might have other issues there but sounds like the regulator for rear window is done.
and its not an easy process to replace the rear ones... sorry

Yeah I saw how to replace it and it looks like a good weekend kind of job. I'm going to pull the panel off and try it to go up with a battery source and see what's stopping it. I just wanted to see if this was something someone knew a way to fix before I take it all apart. I agree on the regulator possibly being shot but it goes up and down with no issues besides stopping halfway up. Could have come off track possibly???
