Strange fix to your symptoms,
but then again I have heard of other baffling fixes.
Update us after some drivetime.
... so do I. But being that the inner seal/ring to the pump was badly damage and halfway gone. Makes sense that this would cause a problem with it spinning, thus causing drag in the belt system and crankshaft. I'm just happy that it's fixed and that it feels like it should.
RPM didn't hunt up, just bogged down when the car was cold when trying to take off. I fail to see the logic as well but it's fixed. Thanks for your input.
Now off to the "wants" and no more huge "needs" at the moment, starting with tint.

I hope that you replaced the belts, as they also were subject to unwanted friction,
due to waterpump pulley resistance.
There was no telling how old that pump was but it ended up getting replaced by URO warranty. Runs smooth as butter now. Was very impressed with their customer service.
Will update in a few weeks after I out a thousand or so miles on it.
