Heyo, short a simple question, my TPS on my 90 325i is factory, i bought a new one on sale and was wondering if it's worth the work to replace it, i know they can get oil in them and not work the way it's suppose to. How often do you check or replace these little things? how much of a difference does it make to the car if the switch is bad?
Its just a switch that tells the ecu when you are at idle or at WOT. In between it does nothing. If you dont have symptoms you leave it alone & keep your replacement for a spare.

The life of a TPS can be greatly extended by drilling a 1/8" hole in the bottom center of the TPS. That allows oil to drain out.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Only replace it if you are having idling issues or if you notice the car won't shut off fuel (mpg gauge should go to infinity) when you let go for the gas pedal while cruising.
