    I Feel like an Idiot!

Early last year, I suggested to Suaby and Taylor that I'd be happy to help with Rhode Island, Idiot Fest, aka RIdiot Fest. Not realizing these events take years' of advance planning, I was told that such would be considered for 2017. Fast forward to this summer and there has been some backchannel chatter concerning such an event actually occurring, nowhere other than Newport / Aquidneck Island for the weekend of October 13th and 14th. We are just waiting for Taylor Marshall to surface and confirm his approval (and availability) for such and then we are a total go. Highlights are as follows:

-Newport is home to Ocean Drive, which will certainly be part of the Saturday Drive - it is one of the most gorgeous coastal roads on this lessor coast of the United States.
-Newport is home to both the newportcarmuseum (.org), the Audrain Auto Museum (fittingly founded by one of the greatest sharks of our time Nicholas Schorsh http://www.investmentnews.com/article/20170310/FREE/170319999/investors-accuse-nicholas-schorsch-of-plundering-rcap-for-own-gain
-Newport is home to a wonderful drive through liquor store.
-Saturday drive can include the 10 Mile Drive as well as the South Coast of RI and MA over some really spectacularly breathtaking (and failing) bridges.
-The motel, Furnace Brook Motel and Suites in neighboring Portsmouth has not just a fire pit, but large rooms, several of which include lovely Suaby Approved Heart Shaped Tubs for True Idiots to share! he he
(More seriously, most rooms are large enough with small living room to easily double up if so desired)
-Many pubs and live entertainment throughout Newport and neighboring Bristol as well as a lovely German Restaurant & Pub
-Sunday return day could include a stop at nearby Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun Casinos.

Again, date would be the weekend after Columbus Day, October 13th and 14th. IMG_20170812_1727400.jpgBridge.jpg17211424.jpgdownload.jpg

It's official, the Grand Marshall Co-Founder of Idiotfest has bestowed his blessings of the Venue and the date. So, please mark your calendars, will firm up room rates etc. early this week.

Looked @ Founders site not many rooms available @ low rate

Just booked a room with one bed in case. Listed as last one left. If you get a club deal I can also cancel this one if needed.

    PS 1 hour after booking:

Before I booked thru "Booking.com, I called Founders and could not hear their message at all.

So the lady called me to find out about my call and she did not know why only 1 room came up.

She's waiting for Jeff to tell her about the block of rooms. She will change my room to be in the

same building when the time comes. So much for "Jumping the gun" It's just second nature for

    those of us who carry.

Wow, you are quick to draw! Just don't be like the last guy who was in a hurry while in Newport on Ocean Drive who ended up with a free car wash!

Where do you normally meet up in Newport or is it just a ride ? Might let the 6 stretch her legs she's been stuck in the garage all summer, no time to drive her

There is no such thing as normal or truly organized with The League of Idiots. We gather at different places in the fall. Anyone is welcome, keep an eye on this thread.

Had a very brief call with Motel owner today but she caught me at a bad time so will have to firm things up on prices tomorrow. She has indeed blocked out rooms for us.

Nice collection of cars you have there neighbor! As Suab Master indicated we'll put lots of details up in time, but minimally plan on the whole day Saturday.

Yes, odd that our paths haven't ever crossed, however, the M6 has really become a garage queen and the E31, like the M6 is just too nice to be driving regularly. Right now I'm refreshing the a/c in the M6 so need to start putting everything back together so I'm not an idiot without a sixer come October!

    Jeff,

The six will not be ready for Oct. I'll have to drive the E350. If I take the Roundel wheel cap and glue it to the three pointed star

will I qualify being an "Idiot"?

Bob, your qualifications far exceed the minimum basic standards.

Robert, the Rondel on the MB star was proprietary to me, ie, my idea. I would like some (idiot) credit for it.

Rob, thanks for coming up with a solution so I can remain an official "Idiot".

To show my appreciation, I'll drag up with me a bottle of Lagavulin 16yr single malt

so we can have a snort to celebrate my continuation of being an "Idiot".

Cory, Again great meeting you yesterday and hope you can make IdiotFest.
Hey Guys, this guy has all the makings of a great Idiot! (..and we mean that with the utmost affection). All the guys are great guys and gals and you'll see , as I'm sure you know already, that it's all about the wonderful people behind the cars. Yes, the cars brought us all together but we have remained friends since then.
