Hi there
I currently drive a F30 316i with 62K KMs on it. I'm used to doing maintenance every 10k km at the dealership but it's getting more and more expensive.
I'm in need of replacing my rear brake pads and brake discs and the dealership is asking for a heck of a lot of money, but there's a Bosch Service Center nearby that also does such stuff, so I was wondering if it would be safe to do it over there instead?
I mean I can have the brake pads and discs replaced by Bosch and then still do the regular maintenance (oil, filters, spark plugs, etc.) at the BMW dealership like nothing happened.
Bosch Service Center is authorized and usually replaces stuff with Bosch's own, however sometimes they also use other aftermarket brands which are supposedly good when they run out of stock.
What do you guys think? Are rear brake pads and discs actually as vital as the front ones when it comes to brands and stuff or would I be okay replacing them at Bosch for cheaper?
Thank you very much.
Everyone will have their opinion on brands. Bosch isn't bad.
in the past, I've trusted Pagid and Hawk for pads and zimmermann and StopTech for rotors. (Didn't really like ACdelco, raybestos, centric or monroe).
But, again, others will add their 2¢ --they might like/dislike some of these brands too.
I highly doubt you need the rear rotors. I don't think I've ever even replaced rear rotors on an F30.
You can always buy the pads and sensor at the dealer, and take them to your shop to install.

Hawk pads with stoptech rotors for me
You will never regret using factory BMW pads and rotors, but shortly after installing aftermarket parts you may regret it
