Just wanted to Say Hello to you guys and formally introduce myself. I just purchased Matt's (Matutino's) Car. This is my first Turbocharged M3, however I've been around the block a few times with 911's, a Cayman S, and a Big Turbo SRT back in the Day and am currently building a turbocharged Exocet. I have been reading the threads and found them to be really helpful. Matt has been great about giving me the background on the car and reading the threads on here have really helped me see both the good and the not so good. I am having the car shipped out east here to Savannah next week. Rest assured that the car will be in good hands and not some former Mustang owner looking for a crowd to run down...My biggest concern is the VANOS stuff.
Thanks again for any help, guidance, and general ball-busting...Did you hear he bought a Dyson, I mean Tesla as a replacement?? Crazy, right??

Thanks! The car seems really well sorted. Can't wait for it to show up. Christmas in August, I guess.

Car should be showing up tomorrow. I am pretty pumped!

Welcome, Matt's car was well sorted and a head turner.

X-brace UCC tranny mounts -BLK/with enforcers, powerflex rtabs, lcabs, AAfanclutch, mishimoto rad, UCC Ultra-cerametallic Clutch.
You will go through days of joy and days of sadness as the pursuit for power leads to madness...
Thanks man...It's going to be a new experience for me, but I'm looking forward to it. What is the wheel setup on your car? I need a track setup (road course) and your car looks awesome!

...annnnnd, I'm breaking parts. 😉 Busted the downpipe flange on the v-band clamp going to the car while doing some data logging. The weld gave up. No biggie, got it welded up and it'll be back on the road tomorrow.
The weld failed at the flange?
Yep. It was a pretty weld, but not great penetration. I was WOT and all of the sudden things got really loud. Thought I had just popped the clamp loose.

No, but it's on rubber hangers so it moves enough (or so I thought). It's going to my local exhaust guy soon to get as tucked to the body as possible while still allowing an air gap and room for movement. The roads here might not be as friendly as so-cal.

lets see some pics?
Got the downpipe repaired and am back on the road. Ordering new tires soon. Can't wait to have some traction. Just going with a 200tw street tire (BFG Rival or similar) as I value my axles and rearend.
Should hook better than the 4 year old PSS's that I have on the car now...

Now that is quick thinking!
You should seriously consider the RE71R's. Very close to an NT-01 but softer sidewalk and better in the rain.
'97 M3, Estoril blue, 2 dr, euro 6-spd, EFR 9180 divided T4 .92 IWG, RK tuning, CP 8.5:1 pistons, Eagle rods, Schrick cams, L19 11 mm ARP studs, O-ringed block, Supertech stainless/inconel valves, Supertech springs & Ti retainers, ported head, S54 oil pump/pan, 80 lb. injectors, OBD1 intake manifold, Steedspeed twin scroll T4, 3.5" SS exhaust, eBoost2 EBC, HFS-4 W/M injection, AEM Failsafe, Zeitronix data logger, Racelogic TC, OpenOBC w. ethanol %, Ireland Eng. engine mounts, UUC black tranny mounts w. enforcers, UUC twin disc feramic, ARC-8's, MCS 2-ways, Z3 rack, Rallyroad strut bar, X brace, Eibach sway bars, Ground Control LCAB bushings, Bimmerworld RTAB's, Powerflex subframe bushings, 210 4-clutch LSD, Stoptech BBK, titainium shims, steel braided lines, brake cooling ducts.
Having driven most of the performance summer tires the re71r is without question the tire you want.
The nt01 is faster around a road course but heat cycles out on the street just like the r888 does.
Here are a few pics for those who were asking...
