    eBay lenses on oem housing

I know we've probably all been here before and I am really looking for some answers on this topic. as most of you know replacement lights from bmw for z3's are $1,250 and there is only one after market option. my lenses on my perfectly good bmw lights are hazing and beyond repair. I was wondering if I can take the lenses off the $250 lights and put them onto the hem housings without any fitment issues. I have baked my lights open numerous times and am confident with sealing them back up properly. thanks for the input!

Don't think so. Have you tried just polishing your OEM headlights then clearcoating them? Can't imagine they are really beyond repair unless they are starting to get damaged from the inside

I have tried to polish them multiple times and my best friend is a detailer and still couldn't save them. I need new lenses and I'm about to spend the $1,250 I really don't wanna do

I bought good condition broken tab OE headlights to take the lens off as needed for my cars. My last headlight was $60 shipped. Came with a very nice clear lens.

Offtopic. OP is talking about headlights, fogs are relatively cheap.

Why not try a set of aftermarkets--I know they're all the same, but Umnitza does a really nice job of building projector angel eyes for about half the cost of OE replacements--I bought a set and I really like them.

I'm not really a fan of the aftermarket ones. I have a custom set of angel eyes on my original headlights that i love and wish to keep. The lenses are just bad. Compared to the originals how close is the shape/fitment

It's the same shape and fitment wise.

Have you tried wet sanding with 1200 grit, 2000 grit, (2500 grit then 3000 grit) and then buffing them with a plastic polish on a drill motor buffing pad? My E36 Coupe headlights were almost completely opaque and they cleaned up fine and are crystal clear.

I think hes asking if the lenses from aftermarket lights are the same shape/size as an OEM light. I cant imagine thats the case personally
