So you know, If i end up buying it it will be getting an LSx T56 swap.
So the engine will get repaired (before the swap) and the engine/trans will be sold.

Being honest, the electric steering isn't all that bad. But it really depends on what kinda car you have and wether the car has a sport mode button. That makes a huge improvement in steering. In my R56, in comfort/standard mode you can tell it's electric. Sport mode it's so much more real feeling. Turbos are you either like them or hate them. But they can make for some pretty amazing highway pulls.

Had OEM M5 mirrors but they stopped working eventually. The replicas just work perfectly, like the glass better too

If you wind wind up parting and would be willing to deal with shipping via greyhound I'd definitely be interested in the seats and euro dash

I don't mind shipping but as I had a seat of fronts seats shipped once, the only proper way to do it is to skid them to avoid damage. Do you have any suggestions?

I can see shipping the eurodash pieces...

Greyhound is defifinitely the the cheapest route for something that size, I think they can accept paletted shipments if properly secured and wrapped up but I'd have to look into that, alternatively you could separate the seat backs and sandwich the bottoms/backs together into two smaller boxes, that might be easier from a shipping standpoint. I believe the seat backs can be separated pretty easily

Good point....I took apart by original seats down to the frames before. I should know for certain today if this is a part out or not.

Guys, the car is officially for sale or part out.

To follow forum rules, please message me for interest as this post is not in the "for sale" forum.

You can also text me at (860) five seven three 5 3 eight two. Name your price and your part and please don't waste both of our times with ridiculous offers.

Sorry to see this but understand, looked like a well cared for and nicely modded E39.

Regardless, I would still try to fix the engine, because of the amount of time and effort put into this car.
I know this car through the years.
It is too nice to part IMO.

Thanks bud. Unfortunately there comes a time when you realize it's not money well spent based on what you need/desire in a vehicle. The car won't last forever. It could but is it really wise?

For a younger gent, this car would be a steal. For a 51 year old guy like me, I see everything I upgraded/replaced already is approaching it's second time around. A short run down on the nice parts to sell would fetch nearly $5K. The wheels and steering wheel are close to what the car is worth with an engine in need of a head gasket, wouldn't you say?

I'd rather not part it and see the car drive on. Unless someone wants the car for $2500 without the wheels and steering wheel, she's getting parted.

Yes, it was a lot of time creating the perfect E39 for me and it was WELL worth. Til the day she went, I loved ever single mile I put on it. Best sporty sedan EVER!

A few pics from about 4 years ago when I had the nose repainted. What a great car for the past 12 years...

Good used engines are all over for a few hundred bucks. Reseal one of those, drop it in and sell off the remains of the over heated lump.

Lol I'd like to see them too.

Best bet is to find a wrecked base 330i or 530i and hope for the best. All while dealing with the giant pile of scrap after you pull the motor.

I've looked but they are all mystery motors.... A low mileage one could be hammered and or poorly maintained.

The lifers here know that there is no such thing a cheap fix if you want something to last. I chuckle at a few hundred bucks for a good engine. Someone needs to still put it in and those days for me are long gone.

Hmm, hope this gets sold in whole to an enthusiast who will do a swap. Looks way too solid to part out.

I know every single M5 (and X5) that I've seen with the power folding mirrors had awful noises from the gears.
I had the OEM m5 til they failed. Got these off ebay. Yes they are noisy but they work! And the mirrors are great

Is the eurodash completely OEM? How much would you let the eurodash go for?
