Outer CV joints/half shafts

I notice excess play from accelerate to decelerate and painful shifts from fwd to rvs. During regular maintenance I find rear brake disc rotates approximately 3/4" while shaft is stable, also note some side to side movement in shaft as disc moves. I find numerous posts on the interior CV joint but relatively nothing on the outer. Some unusual vibration at high speed. Are the shafts due? Inner CV joints show no play. All boots are good. This was a constant issue on my old 1600.

Be ready to replace the entire driveline, half shafts, cv joint, csb, driveshaft, etc. Half shaft wear might indicate abuse elsewhere.


How many miles?

139,000. Didn't find any slop in the driveshaft, but hard to discern on jack stands.
