First time posting
I have a 2011 328 that is still under its CPO warranty for a few more months. I've been having issues with the engine "surging" in idle and the dealership told me that there was a programming update they could do that *might* fix it. They would charge about $250 to apply the update.
A software issue seems like it should fall under manufacturing defect and be covered by the warranty. Does anyone have any experience with this?
Hello and welcome to the forum! I agree that this is something that should be covered under the warranty, but I think their reason for charging you is that it wasn't a "known" issue and started after the car was already pre-owned. I'm attaching a link to our site's DIY tech articles on the E90 platform in case you can do any of the maintenance or repairs on the car after the warranty is up. Please let us know if you have any questions!
