picked up a 2001

picked up and possibly saved a 2001 740i the other night. black on blk. 175k. not sure what to do with it at this point in time. had to pick it up cause it was so cheap and supposedly had perfect engine and trans. besides a lot of love and a nice interior cleaning, it needs a front right spring,strut and tire cause the spring broke and popped the tire. the spare is brand new though so im just gonna put that on there for now after i fix strut, i will be replacing the front struts with ones i have laying around. that's literally it for serious issues. just needs a lil TLC. everything works inside...EVERYTHING-even the cupholders. the doors & hood are just rough with rust, but mechanically? wow. never heard a vanos e38 engine SOO quiet. its had its regular oil changes and was well maintained for the most part. engine purrs, and with out codes. tranny seems perfect, too. recent and very good brakes, new water pump , hoses, rear struts , recent battery , 2keys, perfect engine & trans , no dash lights. passed inspection last November. tight suspension....
I stole this car for $50 bucks (+ $125 for tow) and have already found goodies inside like new parts and a nice bentley repair manual and it also came with a completely full tank of gas,lol. i had just sold a set of style 5s for $300 ( this '01 was $350 ) that i got for free hours before going to pick this 01 up, so my total investment is $175. this car also has new tires on it which are better than the ones on the style 5s i just sold yesterday and these style 5s are also in better over all condition.
gonna try and flip it or just keep as a spare or maybe part it later on. tough call with the body being all rusty.

occasionally there is THAT guy, lol.... people put these on other BMW's too ,ya know,-e30s and such . forgot what this guy was putting them on , but it wasn't an e38, so there fore he really had no idea of the market for these.
yeah tho i priced em high at 400 hoping to get at least $200 with 2 new tires included and when he came he offered the $300. i know he "overpaid" essentially but they had all 5 with centercaps in good shape. i made out for sure. usually i only get $100 - $150 per set of 5 style 5's , but this time i priced em at 400 cause 2 tires were nice and i was including 2 NEW tires for the shot rear ones, but the guy didnt even want them; so i even got to keep those.

Yeah it went "cheap" i guess considering motor and trans are 100%. i was the only one interested in it for the week it was posted, lol.

ill probs swap the 01 head and tail lights and fenders onto my 98, but not for a while. i wanna put plates on this car tmrw and drive it around for a bit.

spent a good part of the day attempting to fix this car. unfortunately, instead of just a spring/strut, i now need to swap the whole spindle out and caliper for good ones that i have laying around. the spindle pinch bolt stripped and caliper bolt was already stripped bad and so i had to use a sawzall, so the calipers trash now, too.

I swear to god, every little thing on this car is NEVER ACTUALLY a little thing. "Just going to replace the pads" and now a caliper bolt is seized, the other is stripped, the bleeder is broken off in the caliper, the brake line is garbage, oh and look they sent the wrong pads! =D

fixed. required a new sway bar end link, steering spindle, strut, caliper and one control arm. was a lot of work. car will be going up f/s soon. hoping to get $1500?
