M Coupe Tail Light

I have finally started driving my M coupe alot more until I find another daily but recently I noticed my tailight was not working. I took it apart and the plastic surround holding the bulb had cracked apart. Fortunately I had a spare from a while ago but notice there is a difference.

The rear corner light hole is not open but on the original unit it is with a little corner light. Were there multi versions of tail lights? These are the same clear not orange top reflector version. Does anyone know if you can drill out the hole, transfer the wiring harness and bulb? Will try and get some pictures tomorrow.

AFAIK there are euro ones (rear fog bulb equipped) and us ones.

There were m and non m lights but bulbs didnt change. Only the reflector color

Here is a pic I found online, you can see this one has the corner light but the one I have is missing and the plastic plate is blocked off.

So you have a euro light

Even if you punch out the hole it wont be wired and the reflector housing is different. I would either remove the other corner light so they match side to side (they are not legally required) or buy a correct US light

Thanks. Yes the wiring harness is not there. The reflectors look the same but will just find a US spec one.

Just ordered a pair so they would match as the car is 16 years old. Hope they are still in stock.

If you look on the outside of the light where that bulb goes that US lights have, we have a reflector around that bulb, euro lights dont
